Spectroscopic Investigation of Bianthryl‐Based Metal–Organic Framework Thin Films and Their Photoinduced Topotactic Transformation

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained a large amount of interest because their periodic and modular structure. These features allow easy prediction the physical chemical properties an organic chromophore, acting as linker in MOF. In present work, bianthryl (BA) equipped with metal-coordinating carboxylate groups, is studied to construct photoluminescent Zn-BA surface-anchored MOF (SURMOF) thin film. The SURMOF, response prolonged UV light irradiation under ambient conditions, exhibits prominent changes ground excited state optical properties, without losing its crystalline A detailed spectroscopic study using UV–vis, infra-red, Raman, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) reveals that presence O2 photoinduced topotactic transformation initiated by formation singlet oxygen, which then reacts BA linkers form endoperoxide.
